getting into wince

I just received this unit today, and I can't get into wince mode.. it doesn't connect to active sync, and the residentflash folder doesn't exist..
any suggestions? |

I had to download some programs to access parts of the registry on my gps unit. I also had to download the microsoft active sync software to my PC. If you have the software, make sure your gps unit is set to sync with the pc, and not as a mass storage device. As for the residentflash folder, you have to do a little tinkering with the software to explore that folder.

Did you copy the YFGo2CE.bld to memory card root (mSD)? Try it and tell us if did works. On my other device, one of that have big SD and works fine.
...then when you access the wince go to Windows Explorer and on address bar type 2 (number two) in the address finish, like this: Before: \\WinCE Device\ResidentFlash Edited: \\WinCE Device\ResidentFlash2 ... and press ENTER. The directory is hidden but accessible with this way ok. Good luck and in the next time put more informations about this device because DX is not putting as information as necessary to convice us to buy. I bought two but at now nothing received and i bought almost 1 month ago, one was sent and was lost on Brazil, sending to Fortaleza and i live in Porto Alegre, almost 5000km of distance and i'm fighting to force them re-send it to my address right, the other bought the DX aren't sending because, i think, they haven't on store then i stil on hope they are going to send as soon as have it again but they should anunciate that haven't it on store so what i can do else wait and wait and wait. Some day i take mine. good luck. |

a_mighty_engr is right it doesn't connect to active sync and can not set on YF. But i found a way.
- Put Taskman and FileManCE2 on microsd and set your navi path to FileManCE2. - Open FileManCE2 with GPS button. - On FileManCE2 you must click firstly Windows Explorer.lnk under Windows/Programs directory - Now run Taskman and end the SHELLEX_LYG with End Task button, that all you are now in wince - Go to Control Panel and click USB and change your device to ActiveSync. -Go to the hidden directory Residentflash2 (read lefrade's write) (sorry for my eng.) |

I tried the YFGo2CE.bld in root, and it does nothing.. and those instructions on wiki doesn't work on it either.. microsofth, where can I find those programs Filemance2 and taskman? does anyone know what hardware these gps runs on? Arm or mips? |

If the shell is called SHELLEX_LYG then this is not the same firmware as the other ones. Do not try any of the alternative shells mentioned in the wiki as you will probably brick the device. The YFGotoce.bld will not work and the registry format recovery probably won't either.

I finally got into wince, through filemance2 and from there executing control panel to turn on activesync for USB.. it doesn't appear to have taskman as part of the OS files.. It is running the SHELLEX_LYG shell under wince 5.0..
I'll have to be very cautious doing anything as it appears to be different than the other versions of GPS.. Thanks guys.. I still have lots to learn and figure out how to tinker with this thing.. |

Please, Have sombebody got success in changing the SHELLEX_LYG for other shell?
I Can to get into Wince, but I can't stop the Supplier's application that is running over WINCE. Does anyone want to help me??? Thanks |

I install the Paz gps menu ( http://bit.ly/DXGPS )and with this menu I can go into WINCE and try play with the GPS , I can kill the SHELLEX_LYG . most of the software that worked on the other GPS is not working on this one , the WINCE is missing a lot of files , also I have problem with hebrew font , when I pass the phonbook from my phone to this GPS I got the english text ok but the hebrew like square fonts. Is any one success to change the boot picture ? |

Hi All, I found how to change boot image
To change the boot image need to put the file "Logo.bmp" in the SD card and boot ( rest the device ). you can download example of the bmp file from here http://www.mediafire.com/?nlne4twzmeg the bmp file should be 480x272 pixels. in BMP format (not JPG or GIF) with 24-bit colors. (it is like in the wiki http://bit.ly/DXGPS but the only change is the file name. ) |
