How to Bulkrate
Q & A

Only look at the displayed Grand Total when using the BULKRATE code, ignore the line total
UPDATE (08/2010): Due to rising costs, BULKRATE will NOT work for items =< $1.00 anymore. ______________________________________________________________________ Introduction BulkRate is a semi-wholesale system with items priced separately from retail. When you use bulk rates, a flat $1.70 registered air mail fee will automatically be added to your cart to ensure delivery of package. General Info • Using the BULKRATE code is optional • BULKRATE pricing structure is for 3 or more quantities of the same item/SKU number per order • Using the BULKRATE code automatically upgrades untracked orders to tracked Hong Kong Post / Chinapost Airmail • It costs $1.70 to use the BULKRATE code • The BULKRATE code will usually reduce the per item price, but sometimes the per item price will increase Using the BULKRATE code • Buy atleast 3 quantities of the same item/SKU number • Click the Enable BULKRATE prices link in the checkout page • Ignore the wrong displayed Line Total. Only look at the correct displayed Grand Total ![]() img src: http://i39.tinypic.com/116rfq9.jpg ______________________________________________________________________ ![]() img src: http://i41.tinypic.com/feic1c.jpg BULKRATE prices displayed on the product's page are higher than the normal non BULKRATE price This can happen for some inexpensive items. Due to the low price of the product a discount can't be given on bulk purchases The displayed Grand Total in the checkout page is higher when BULKRATE is used This can happen when purchasing low quantities of inexpensive items. For low quantities the $1.70 BULKRATE fee is more than the BULKRATE discount. Just remove the BULKRATE code to get the lower price Large orders and wholesalers should check out http://allbuy.com for lower prices ___________ I came here to drink milk and kick ass... and I've just finished my milk . |

Nice, although there is kind of a bug with it. Lets say you have five of sku 1 in your cart then you add one of sku 2 to your cart and enable bulkrate, it will add the $1.70. But then when you remove the five sku 1s and you are left with only one sku 2, the $1.70 is still there and you have to empty your cart to get rid of i

^Thats not a bug, it just means you need to manually remove it, just like if you wanted it in the first place, you need to add it manually.

If you add several of some items the price shown in the list is higher than the price for a single item. For example, the discal calendar (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.18713) is $2.75. If you have, say, ten of them in your cart with bulkrate enabled the individual price is $2.87. That's not right, but perhaps it's some weird accounting method DX uses instead of being a bug. However the grand total comes out right (actually 8 cents under in this case).
If I remove bulkrate (using the remove coupon button) it removes the effect of the bulkrate discount, but leaves the $1.70 bulkrate shipping charge in my cart, which I can't remove if anything is in my cart, and the higher individual price of $2.87 stays. Thus the total price is now $30.40 instead of $27.50. This is definitely a bug. ___________ http://club.dealextreme.com/forums/Forums.dx/threadid.872461?page=6 On 24 August 2011 it was stated the IT department was going to be asked why the affiliate scheme stopped working. When I made my order, I accidently clicked it, and I could not remove it, so i just thought it meant that the packages were going to be sent all in one package. I only ordered single products but 2 of the items were 2 of each. Will this affect my order?

Why doesn't DX deal to this bug?

It has probably added $1.70 to your order. If it was an item less than $15 then it will give you tracking so it would not be a waste of money. But if the item was more than $15 then it has no added value. @ Sheepish, a bug is when a feature is not working. In this case there is no feature to remove the bulkrate alone, you need to empty your cart to get rid of bulkrate. Thus this can't be a bug, but it is a missing feature. ___________ I'm not part of DX Staff, only a forum moderator. My comments are my own views and might not reflect the views of DX.
