Subject:

How to avoid PayPal currency conversion

General Discussions

Wednesday, December 17, 2008 6:31 AM
I created this post because most of the people don't know how to avoid PayPal currency conversion.

i) Why avoid PayPay currency conversion

PayPal likes to earn money every time they make currency conversion. For example, on the conversion EUR to USD they take 2,5% fee. There are currencies such as Singapore currency with a 10% fee.

ii) Why should I want the currency conversion to not be handled by PayPal?

Because your credit card company have a conversion fee lower than PayPal.

iii) How can I check my local currency conversion to US dollar

Go Google and type "1 local currency to USD".

eg. "1 EUR to USD" or "27 USD to EUR".

I had the same problem. They take euro from my card and then they convert it to dollars to pay.

I set a dollars as a primary currency on paypal. I think now they will not take any fee.

Am i right ?

I know there will be fee in my bank because they have to convert my currency konvertible mark to us dollars, but that is les than a 0.5%
